Rășinari lies at the foot of the Cindrel mountains, twenty minutes from Sibiu. It is one of the oldest Romanian villages of the region, with sheep farming as its trade and wide paved courtyards behind tall gates.
The Orthodox church of 1725 has exterior paintings more often seen in Bukovina. The village is the birthplace of the poet Octavian Goga. Until 2011 a tram ran here from Sibiu; the line through the forest is still visible.
We combine Rășinari with the ASTRA open-air museum and Cisnădioara in one day trip.
- Orthodox church (1725)
- Birthplace of the poet Octavian Goga
- Sheep-farming households
- Historic tram line from Sibiu
