The detailed description
Biertan is a Saxon village from Transylvania with an impressive fortified church which is situated on the highest point of the region and is visible from far away. The fortress has three rows of walls and the famous reconciliation room, which reminds us of those times when divorce was hard to imagine.
After we admire Biertan we travel further to Sighisoara. Sighisoara was built by the Saxons in the 12th-century and is today a landmark for Transylvania, being one of the few medieval cities that is still inhabited. Its narrow streets and 16th-century old town give the city a special charm.
Malancrav is our final destination for today. This is where the majority of the Saxons in the region live. The Saxon settlement, Mălâncrav, was under the authority of the Hungarian aristocracy. We will visit here the house of the Apafi family. It is a place where also Prince Charles is a regular guest. Afterwards, we visit the fortified church and the village we will travel further to Sibiu.
